My photography blog here is intended to complement my painting blog - you may see some photos that you recognize as paintings, and vice versa...go ahead, see if you can find them!
We have a tradition of visiting Nubble LIght in York each time we go to Wells (which includes a visit also to the Goldenrod taffy store and Bill and Bob's silver store)- the tidal pools here are like mirrors with great surprises beneath the surface.
We often have a full force storm that will come through Wells Beach in the afternoon, enveloping the beach and creating great reflective puddles in the streets.
I often get up early (with no alarm clocK) at Wells Beach, just in time to catch the beautiful sunrises off Kennebunkport, with amazing colors and cool ocean air.
the architecture in New England is well represented from Maine to Cape Cod by the shingled cottage. These are seen from the cottage that we rent in Wells Beach each summer.
My girls and I enjoyed a beautiful beach day, ferry ride and ice cream on Block Island this summer. A beautiful island with a nice, laid back environment.
The water that leads through Elm Bank has many personalities, depending on the season, the sun and the weather. On this cold but clear February day, it looked dark and inviting...and cold.
My students and enjoy setting up the sap buckets on local maples for sugaring at our local organic farm. Elm Bank in Natick is the perfect place to spend a morning in the snow and sun prepping the trees.
The crystals of ice were on everything this day...and the backlight from the sun made these high bush cranberries glow in the sunlight at the local organic farm.
Amazing crystals of ice formed on the very cold wire fence at the Organic Farm this past winter. I'm glad I could focus well to show the leafy structures.
I've been a painter my whole life.... I just didn't know it. Luckily, I've been using photography as an extension of a life-long desire to capture what I see, now I can do it in 2 mediums. I couldn't tell you which came first, the desire to paint or photography, but, does it really matter?
Please feel free to browse my other medium, primarly in watercolor, at www.paintedpaperbyholly.blogspot.com
Feedback is always appreciated!
